The Malt Shop: Drowsy Venus (4/6/17)

rfs drowsy1:02:45 – Recorded 4/6/17. MALT 018. Features a movie review by Jimbo! Beyond that, this episode is basically just an excuse for me to explore some of the post-Rush episodes of Vic and Sade, as that is an era of the series I generally pass up in favor of the era preceding it. Never fear though: this show is 100% free of Brainfeebles.

Included in this episode:
Caribbean Dream Flute (Vic and Sade, 11/19/43)
Jimbo’s review of The Trouble With Harry (1955)
The Trouble With Harry (Alfi & Harry, 1956)
Uncle Fletcher Miffed With Sade (Vic and Sade, 7/13/44)
Robert and Slobert Are Scoundrels (Vic and Sade, 7/24/44)
Uncle Fletcher Rests Body and Brain (Vic and Sade, 8/11/44)

  1. The 1944 Vic and Sade episodes without Rush are fun. I know a lot of fans who don’t like/enjoy Russell but, as you know Shambles, I like Russell and feel fans who don’t like him simply aren’t giving him a chance. Thanks for sharing them.

  2. I really liked that last episode; there’s some classic material there. Wish I’d taken the time to talk a little about it at the end.

  3. On 8-14 and 8-15 (just a few days after that last episode about Body and Brain, Fletcher officially takes a vacation – so it kind of makes all 3 episodes like 1 LONG episode.

Also in 1944, we have access to many surviving audio episodes and we almost get a daily running of the bit about Fletcher’s landlady getting engaged, etc. The bad thing is, it’s not the best story line.

  4. Yeah, I was looking at the episode titles for that “landlady engaged” storyline for this Malt Shop but decided to just use episodes that were more standalone.

Mysterious Skulkers almost made the cut. Vic is Boss for a Day was very close but then I started thinking either you or PQ had used it recently. That’s a good one though.

  5. I believed I used a tiny piece of that for the Central’s “Dream Jobs” episode.

  6. Yes. That must have been it.
