  1. The van culture is intriguing. I haven’t found much online written about its demise. I can think of the factors such as the end of the 70’s, and this having an entirely different feel than the 80’s, but that is a story of what happened, not why.

    – I think enforcement of drunk driving laws and the liability of drinking in a parked van still getting you a DUI may be a factor.
    – The teenage male fantasy of the van upon its realization quickly created a very negative image of the van
    – Higher gas prices
    – Difficulty of cleaning puke and other fluids from shag carpeting
