Rubénerd Show 360: The revolutionary episode (04/24/17)

01:29:42 – Because it’s episode 360! Shaddup. Take a wander with your esteemed host as he records three separate episodes, doesn’t have time to produce all of them, and subsequently smashes them into one convenient episode. In Buzzfeed style, you’ll never guess what he talks about! Mostly because the episode doesn’t have a proper description.

Radio Free Shambles: Teen Intervention Day (4/22/17)

rfs teen1:01:37 – Let’s step back in time now to 1992. Young Shambles Constant and his friends experience Teen Intervention Day, a day in which the faculty attempts to solve all the difficulties of adolescence in a mere eight hours. A valiant effort but one destined for failure if the irreverence of these not-so-troubled teens is any indication. You will hear crappy Bob Dylan impressions, references to inside jokes that even present-day Shambles no longer understands, an afterschool rehearsal for the student production of Little Shop of Horrors, and one of Shambles’s friends engaging in a battle of wits with some girl on the bus. Also, young Shambles on this particular day is being a bit of a jerk to his friends. Recorded 3/10/92. RFS 114.

The Midnight Citizen 208 — “Let’s Rap!” (4/22/17)

citizen208cover1:18:46 – Join Mike in the studio late at night, where he laments the things we do for money, the Unicorn Frappuccino, and wonders if anyone — any more — likes working. Also, bad job interview memories.

Show Notes: “Welcome to Moe’s” and other insincere gestures by fast food joints; “Undercover Boss”; the Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino; no one seems to like their jobs; are we in a peak age of media consumption?; Music Break*; that time I went on a job interview and got busted by the cops; playing Jeopardy with Alexa; Video Street Video Store**; weird Christian pressure going on in youth groups; I had a whole episode of “The Overnightscape Central” dedicated to me; proximity friendships; Music Break*; Roddy Piper; Sutter Kane.

*Music Break: “I Saw the Figure 5ive” by half cocked; “I Know Where You’ve Been” by Forget the Whale”; “Stand Up” by Reno’s Men.

**Video Street Video Store: “The Compaq Paqrap” (1989); “Real Teens Getting Real About Real Issues” (1990s).

Backing music for tonight’s episode is the Midnight Cassette System (CCO 1.0 Universal, attribution, non-commercial, share-alike).

Thanks to BiCoastal Becky for the kind words, and PQ Ribber & Jimbo for the songs inspired by this show. Check out the episode of “The Overnightscape Central” dedicated to me.
