The Shambleshow #70: The Physical (11/16/12)

1:15:14 – Nervous about my physical, colder inside than outside, need to get food, didn’t feel like recording, Tapestry, old home videos, narrowly averted a car accident, Kristal’s car accident, show art, I’m glad the election’s over, might be a little late for appointment, waiting in Hardee’s drive-through for a long time, burnt sandwich, fire truck, driving, co-workers having temper tantrums, rude guy talking through moment of silence, parking garage, results of physical, ears ringing, caffeine, upcoming weekend plans, haven’t felt much like reading, Here Comes Another Lesson by Stephen O’Connor, Hangman, audio from Devin’s basketball game, flat (shredded!) tire, unexpected expenses, books I got at the book sale, prediction of snow, Pepsi craving, gym membership, birthday party plans, felt lousy, lots of doctor appointments all at once, got behind on Onsug listening, a bunny in the rain, horror book, Harry Potter. Opening theme song: Simple Pleasures (Henry Homesweet, Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 England & Wales). Closing theme taken from Street Piano Medley (August Molinari, Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike, 1907).

scottlo calling – episode 004 (11/15/12)

56:09 - In the course of recording this tribute to yesterday’s mega-news about the word of the year (the verb form of GIF), an important and disorienting insight flashed in my mind’s eye like the reflection of a neon gas station sign rippling across a puddle of spilled petrol on the pavement as the country radio station crackles from the office in the first moments after sunset on a warm and humid late summer evening. The insight being that the process of recording these wandering wonderings is not unlike the process of assembling an animated GIF. But then again, it’s not entirely the same either.

Beyond that, everything else remains for the listener to discover in due course.
