I have watched about half of my recording of “A Christmas Story Live” and I must say I don’t think it was an utter failure, although there have certainly been no memorable songs so far. The parts that have been good have been the parts that were true to the original, and the parts that have been bad are the parts that have been changed or added. So I guess I’m either damning it with faint praise, or praising it with faint damns.

Somehow I have escaped ever seeing the musical version of “The Producers”, which I suspect might work better than “A Christmas Story” as a musical — or a musical within a musical, actually! Anyone seen it?

Well, I finished watching it and, unfortunately, the second half was worse than the first half. So forget the bit about “faint praise”.
