“THE SEMINAR”
4:25:28 / 243MB Frank attends Day One of the Talkers Magazine New Media Seminar of the talk radio industry in New York City. Starting off in the morning in New Jersey, then the journey into the city. A few updates during the day. Then at the cocktail reception, checking out the celebrities, and talking about briefly meeting Joe Franklin. Then… some pretty deep and brutally honest spontaneous psychological analysis by a radio executive, followed by an awkward, failed attempt to interview Sean Hannity, who seemed a bit pissed off. Then, the journey home, many topics, getting wet in Times Square, The Party Bus, Rodney Bingenheimer, etc.

  1. Well. it did make for interesting listening, thats for sure! but nobody can tell somebody else who to be, everyone’s different, that guy saw you where sheepish and took advantage of it to boost his own ego, we all get into those situations so its not like ur some big looser in life like that guy was makin out, you know that anyway. At the same time he did help you join in the party and converse and we all need to grow a pair of balls now and then, but from mypoint of view – no big revelation or anything. One thing you should have done was take some of his advice and talk back to him the way he was talkin to you… with that patronizing tone, now that would have been interesting, he was right on some level – and he did help you integrate so i dont think he was an absolute cunt! nothing revolutionary going on there, just helped you integrate there and then. Now grow a pair of balls!!!! LOL! I liked the guy though – he sounds like fun, but you should have thrown a few punches back, learn to press other peoples buttons if they are pushin yours.

  2. I know this makes me a little evil, but I find it strangely satisfying to have solid evidence that Sean Hannity is as much an a*hole in real life as he seems on television.

  4. I’m the guy who was questioning The Rampler. First I like Frank or I wouldn’t have spent so much time with him. I’m not a stranger to most of the people there so I could have filled up the evening by just walking around the room. As you can tell, I’m not shy. I was actually trying to encourage Frank. I saw some of me in him when I was getting started and in the atmosphere of a broadcast, which is what we were doing, if you ask someone a question and they don’t answer you just keep asking it. Frank wasn’t answering the questions. Like Frank I’m a New Yorker by birth and we’re very direct. Saves a lot of time and I hate small talk. If someone wants my time and seems intelligent I’ll speak my mind and they have the right to do so too. If they think I’m an ass they can always walk away. I wasn’t telling Frank who to be, I was asking him who he is or wants to be. Lot’s of questions. If I asked you if you were a pussy and you said no fucking way, I wouldn’t ask you again. I was trying to find out why he was relucant to talk to people at a Talk convention. And the result is, two of three posting are about his moment with Hannity. Do you think he would have gone over to him if I hadn’t pushed him a bit? I’ve been doing this a long time and have trained a lot of talent. I’m a coach and sometimes a coach has to go right to the heart of it or the player will never reach thier potential and I think after listening that Frank has some. Also, I was toasted! The only thing I ate for the previous 8 hours was a slice of pizza and two beers went right to my head. I really wanted to go to the buffet table but decided to give Frank a few moments of my life instead.

  5. Ted, thanks for commenting!! I have heard from a lot of people who really enjoyed this episode – especially the part with you and the Hannity incident. What you said was definitely helpful to me… it’s stuff I really need to deal with. The New Media Seminar was a great experience overall… gave me a new perspective on things.
