  1. Yeah, I started listening to Vic and Sade before I even realized that it was set (in all but name) in Bloomington-Normal. Fun fact: The small house halfway up in the next block is across the street from my shrink’s office. 😀

I’ve thought before about going on a road trip and recording the whole way, visiting various places in Bloomington and the surrounding area that are mentioned on Vic and Sade. Haven’t gotten around to it but hopefully I’ll get to do so in the not-too-distant future. I might not have thought about bringing a camera along until I listened to this show, but now I’ll make sure I do.

And Jimbo, your website will make an excellent resource that I can use to map out the trip ahead of time…

  2. Shambles (by the way, great name!), I have done my best to document these places as best as I could:

The Whiz Bar factory (aka Candy Factory where Pauline Delacey worked) http://vsresearchnotebook.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-candy-factory.html

    The/A Bloomington cigar store http://vsresearchnotebook.blogspot.com/2013/12/bloomington-cigar-store.html

Whatever “large” ballpark is in Normal (Vic played semi-pro ball for Normal) It’s probably the home for the Cornbelters (if they are still around) (see http://vsresearchnotebook.blogspot.com/2013/12/why-vic-and-sade-were-dizzy.html)

    Train depot http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vDnQY7dePLE/UVq2u37SNnI/AAAAAAAAUQ8/Xkx0_DclCK4/s400/_02,+05_30_08.jpg

A ‘clothing store’ (no details of which one this is, but it looks like it could be Silvers or others mentioned on the show ) http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MPMqmVYPH6c/UVq4SFJn-nI/AAAAAAAAURg/Os4LTWySR-w/s400/_02,+05_38_07.jpg

This specific are of town, especially the rail yard ‘junction’ (this would be the approx area of the Bright Kentucky Hotel and nearby would be the Lazy Hours Pool Hall. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r8w1mLTGS10/UVl5vluCSbI/AAAAAAAAUP4/FWkacZ-N5Rg/s1600/_01,+08_11_41.jpg

Of course there are these as well:

Courthouse (but also and especially the courthouse lawn area out in front) http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BwnA1AYiDJ4/UVwGvYQCGuI/AAAAAAAAUTQ/MiHDR9cqL4Y/s400/_03,+06_22_13.jpg

    The People’s Bank http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zT9Zq-IWlig/UVwGyGUavQI/AAAAAAAAUTY/pcPZ_5gFchY/s400/_03,+06_25_18.jpg

Miller Park – The front of the park (sign) and especially the picnic area and also “Dillman Dells”

    The C and A shops

    The Snow and Palmer Dairy

    Coal mine http://www.pantagraph.com/news/local/mclean-county-coal-mining-was-dirty-dangerous-business/article_670a15d6-9a3c-11de-a657-001cc4c03286.html

And there are dozens of streets listed in the series and you can find all that we know of here (bottom of the article) http://vicandsade.blogspot.com/p/places.html

I am looking forward to whatever you come up with and hope you will also allow me to share them with my readers!
“My Store” – was probably Yamiltons

Inter-urban station area (and behind it)
