Best Read Me Files Ever
Mike Jittlov, creator and star of The Wizard of Speed and Time (and many other wonderful things), released a set of fonts and dingbats for the Apple Macintosh back in 1996. Included with the fonts were six amazing read me files which were composed using the fonts. I’ve always been amazed at these files… but unfortunately, you need Mac OS 9 to see them properly. So, I decided to take screen shots of all the files and stitch them together into one huge PNG file (628 x 23652 pixels) – which should be easily viewable in any current web browser.
I sent this to Mr. Jittlov himself, and he posted them (split back into six files), along with the original font download here.

Thanks, Frank!! For finding my abandoned relic, then daring to view it on your Mac, caring to link all its read-me’s into the longest, skinniest GIF on the Net, and placing that on your elegant website for fellow fontoholics to behold!

Aaaaaaaah, memories are tiptoeing through the synapses, refiring visions of 1997. When I finally met NetGhod Kibo, who can identify every font ever made anywhere in the universe, who soon sent me a 20-part analysis of the J-Font, plus a scalable True-Type and Postscript version to replace it in my PowerBook, because what I created on the wings of ADD should not be allowed near any Internet-linked computer or else the World Wide Web would self-destruct on Sept 13, 1999, instead of just the Moon.
The fact that we’re all still here means that Kibo’s plan worked. Or that this is all actually…… =(
Wherever whatever, looking at the J-Font’s inert mega-GIF is 10,000% ‘safe’ when viewed as directed. Although, please do _not_ call the phone listed in the Read-Me, unless you speak Spanish, and want to donate to the evangelical church that inherited my “No-Human” number years ago.
