The whole work/leisure ratio is certainly something people would benefit from re-thinking. Even if there are costs involved with figuring out how to live as close as feasible to work and shopping; in an ideal situation, both can be within walking distance. I have no idea how folk do 1 hour-2 1/2 hour commutes, each way, every day, get home and get back in the car and drive 45 minutes, each way to shop, etc…. not to mention how many office situations need to be restructured so that people work from home most or all of the time.
