I loved The John Larroquette Show! It’s a series definitely deserving of a DVD release, but it seems all but forgotten today. I remember the Pynchon episode pretty well; I took a Lit class around that time in college and we read Vineland (and I didn’t know what to make of it at that time; I should really give his works another try). Interestingly, my Lit professor pronounced Pynchon the same way you did so I’ve always thought that was the correct pronunciation and the Larroquette Show got it wrong. I can only conclude now that Thomas Pynchon doesn’t care how the hell people say his name. 😀
But I love that episode. Especially that Dexter has either given John the greatest gift anyone will ever give him (a signed Pynchon) or ruined his most prized possession (by forging Pynchon’s name) – and John will never know which.
