  1. Actually, “Uncle Ezra”, a spin-off from “National Barn Dance” was the first spin-off. The Uncle Ezra program often co-starred Clarence Hartzell (Uncle Fletcher) and Art Van Harvey (Vic) and Bern Flynn (Sade) would show up now and again as well, but they didn’t play their Vic and Sade parts.

You might be surprised to know that Eddie Rochester Anderson had a 2 part audition for a spin off (find it at OTRR) and Mr. Kitzel had a 30 minute audition (“Here Comes Mr. Kitzel “- also at OTRR).

Haven’t heard your show yet ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I really, really enjoyed your talk about The GG, as I am a fan as well. If you doubt anyone listens, know that when you speak of OTR, I will be listening.

I would love to just hear you go all Jimbo on us and just do and say the ridiculous, I can only imagine the results. ๐Ÿ™‚

The other stuff in between was attention-grabbing, especially the college burned down by lettuce!

Also, Fang’s wife, Phyllis Diller, I talk about her a bit in the next Central, long before I heard this episode…

  3. Jimbo, thanks for the spinoff info! More for me to seek out and listen to. OTRR, here I come! I knew about the Anderson audition but not the Mr. Kitzel one.

I’ll be playing more Gildy for sure. I think the Gildy eps could lead to a lot of interesting ramples.

Funny you should mention going “all Jimbo” – I will be releasing an RFS tomorrow which is in some ways an answer to one of your recent shows. Toward the end I do a riff and make up a story that may have been sort of inspired by your style of riffing (although I didn’t quite realize it until I listened to it). It was great fun – hope you enjoy. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Nice stuff. Audition shows were also used to allure sponsors… I may grab that Kitzell audition for a QS…
Even the filler was killer…. ๐Ÿ™‚
