I’m a little behind on my Onsug listening but just caught this one. As luck would have it, I got around to it just at a moment when I was feeling true despair as well as an uncharacteristic cynicism about the state of this nation. You guys reminded me that I’m definitely not crazy for being mortified by recent events. Jeff Pollard’s piece was very well-written and I appreciated being able to hear it.
In separate but related news, Thanksgiving is gonna suck. I’m just praying no politics at the dinner table.

Hey, thanks Shambles, yes indeed these times they are – a changin’ but in spite of the ominous horizon, or, maybe because of it, I’m feeling particularly motivated to “be the change you want in the world” and have a feeling that this wake up call will end up being a most positive step forward to unify folks. We just all need that kick in the ass sometimes to bring about the changes we all want but are, sadly, most of the time sleep walking through.
Have a delightful Thanksgiving and when at that dinner table and the inevitable discourse begins about our imperious leader, just reach for another piece of pie….

Thanks, Shambles. I’m glad my editorial resonated for you (and others).
I’ve never been more embarrassed and disheartened to be an American than I am right now so I’m a long ways off from healing, looking forward, or even accepting the fiasco that was the campaign and election of 2016.
If there’s any silver lining for me at all it is that I now know who the racists are in my circle; I always prefer to have the enemy directly in front of me as opposed to behind me hiding in the sewers.
Adolph Trump and the Republican Party who supported him throughout brought them all out into the bright light and now we all can see them clearly.
Better days ahead… maybe.
