Great show! About Nightstation, etc. : I’ve been thinking for a while that many shows will be bypassed in the future simply because their show notes are no help at all when a search is done. For example, PQ has a vast knowledge of comics and wrestling and every now and then adds some (I suppose) crucial tidbit that adds a piece to someone’s puzzle; however, no mention of it in his show notes = future peruser and would-be listener has no idea and valuable info is wasted in that case.
I KNOW detailed show notes are a pain but they are also beneficial. The ONS Central is begging for detailed show notes but one of the best things about the Central is SURPRISE. So giving away the surprise in show notes seems a bit cruel. How then to detail the show without giving away the goodies?

I have hopes that as audio transcription services get better, perhaps we can run everything through that and come up with keyword generated content feeds, perhaps you could add a selectabe buffer amount of time before and after any certain keyword is found, and by entering these keywords you could generate the audio stream, it would be nice to have real-time options of modyfying the search such as jump another 20 seconds back, or play all clips containing the word “Fartknocker”, or “Billy Patterson”. If the searh could develop contextual recognition, perhaps it could automatically include related terms as it judged worthy. This might have a slider control offering different levels of confidence in the accuracy.

Show notes are a lot of work, but very important for searching the archive. I’ve settled on doing them in real time for my show, which has been working for me.
I think having show notes is more important than keeping things a surprise.
The AI revolution is coming, and I believe i will allow for show notes and such things to be fully automated… we just don’t know when the necessary breakthroughs will happen.

What I will try and do: a week after each Central – I will go back and change the notes with specifics! I appreciate your input on this.

Jimbo – you’ll have to keep close tabs on those notes at the beginning of each month to get them changed before Frank archives that month’s shows.
