  1. Makes sense now that you mention it, why Jimbo didn’t want to watch more modern films. He would say “hell” or maybe “damn” once in a while but that was generally the extent of it.

    I recognized the Richard Cory poem – I think I read it in junior high or high school for literature class – but I had forgotten about the Simon & Garfunkel song. They had references to literature in a few of their songs as I recall. I’m thinking of Dangling Conversation (“and you read your Emily Dickinson, and I my Robert Frost”) and also Leaves That Are Green (“like a poem I meant to write”). There are more but I need to think about the songs.
