  2. i would assume book worms are people buried in books like worms are proverbially buried in apples.. though i never saw that either.

  3. One prominent worm puppet on Sesame Street was Oscar’s pet Slimy. He seemed to be manipulated by sticks and strings for full shots. I don’t know if they might have had a finger puppet for some scenes.
