So, the “2000s” ended 12/31/09. Right now we are near the end of the first year of the “2010s” or “Twentyteens”
Centuries are on a different track – the 21st Century began January 1, 2001 – while the decade of the 2000s began January 1, 2000.
So, the first decade of the 21st Century is ending this month – but such a decade system is no the one we currently use.
