Again with the sirens! I spent 5 weeks in Taipei, 4 million people and not one siren.
Something is up.

Cablevision is notorious in the industry of using packet speed throttleing to curb speeds when the suspect abuse whether its warranted or not. Unlimited data and programming yes… at the fastest speed available no. I bet you started having this issue a few days after setting up and using Boxee.
Time Warner is accused of doing the same out here. Know in advance that if you switch to FiOS, you will be watching a remanded Directv product.

If that’s true, that they slow you down when you start watching Internet video – seems like a weird strategy, because everyone that can will switch to FiOS.
I’m much more concerned with good Internet than what they have on TV – I’d love to go without the TV signal, but my wife and I are not quite ready to do that.

I ditched cable three years ago. Made a hi def antenna for $5.00 from internet plans.
Works great…FOR FREE!
Free TV, free ONSUG!
also got rid of my cell phone. Ported my number to Google voice which routes calls to a Virgin Mobile phone ($19.00)
which is $20.00 every 90 days.
Stick it to the man, twice!

Way to go Rich, also use the g voice and a cheapy cell. Can’t get th wife and kids off the cable yet, but have my HD antenna already and working. I am on cable modem as well, no other options, I have made a few heated calls on service, it gets better, then worse again. Nat the moment all is pretty good. I think they wait to long on making nodes as they fill them up with customers. Just working over th customers.

Many of my mail route customers switched to FIOS a few years ago when they came to the town. Many have gone back to comcast because they claim that Verizon started raising their bills almost monthly. It was not a service thing with most more a monatary thing.
