  1. Another great episode, sir. I have long been bothered by a similar situation in social gatherings, where it just seems kind of hollow and it’s hard to connect with anyone. You have put it into words better than I’ve been able to. Sometimes it’s from catching people on a different wavelength, and sometimes it’s just from seeking deeper meaning to things than others around you are seeking. A lot of people are content to stay in one place and to not grow and evolve. It could also be that you just don’t see the areas of growth and evolution in the social setting.

    Another phenomenon could be coming into play. There’s an episode of How I Met Your Mother where they talk about something called “revertigo,” which is the tendency to revert to the person you were when you’re around someone from your past. That one really hit home for me. Maybe that’s what some of your friends do, unconsciously. I’ve experienced revertigo, which is why I will very likely not attend my high school reunion (it’ll be 20 years in 2012). Although I could probably get a good Anybody’s Guess episode out of it if I did go. Hmm…

    Etimes it’s difficult
