May 16, 2009 is the 25th anniversary of the supposed death of Andy Kaufman. The website AndyKaufmanLives.com had been promising a special message for this day, so I got set up to record my reactions to it in real time. One thing I had been intending to do for awhile was sit out on the porch and smoke pipes. Also, having seen some recent web broadcasts from BradmanTV on USTREAM, I figured I would try it out myself, though I just had a kind of crappy webcam on my Acer Aspire One netbook.
In the end, I would up broadcasting for nearly 5 hours! It was a heck of a lot of fun. I smoked pipes and drank some “Black & White” Scotch on the porch, and we got Andy’s “fuck you” message, and a lot of the people were watching and in the chatroom.
My battery ran out and I went inside and continued the show in The Overnightscape Studio, eventually drinking some absinthe and putting on a puppet show!! Also, showing some video of Andy Kaufman on Fridays with weird video feedback sounds… a whole lot of stuff. Most of it was recorded on video (see below)…
It was a very fun experience! I hope to do it again, hopefully with a better webcam…
From an audio perspective, this piece may be a bit difficult at times – long pauses and such – since so much was going on – but there is good stuff up till the very end, so stick with it!

holy crap. the best Rampler ever!!!… Absinthe-induced hilarity, omg so effing good. The gay hippo giving a promo for my page and the album cover, while amazing were only minor highlights of an incredible 4 hours plus of visual distraction. Brilliant.
Oh and I do want a copy of that drawing, I will send you a special “Rampler Edition” of the album.

The puppet show was recorded! It’s on the second video (the long one) called “Andy’s Message”

I can’t believe I missed the puppet show! I thought things were winding down when I tuned out. Oh well, never underestimate the Rampler. You have to do another one of those soon. Great job!

I’ve got a sense of humour, (as anyone who’s heard my p**c**t can testify), but l think I’ve finally had enough of the AndyKaufmanLives guy, whoever his is.
Either Andy Kaufman is alive and is an a**hole, or this is some guy portraying the late Andy Kaufman as an a**hole. Either way, it’s not cool.
That said, I’m 2 hours and 15 minutes into this Enjoying this 87 hour Rampler, and enjoying it very much, thanks Frank.

(If you don’t mind, I’ll repost my previous comment without the 874 typos, sorry)

Great show! I was laughing often! Looking forward to watching the video next. Can you tell I’m about two weeks behind in my Rampler listening? Work has gotten super busy so I’ve often had to listen to each episode twice to make sure I haven’t missed anything. Second time around I’m always surprised to hear how much I missed the first time. I multi-task at most everything so I miss snippets here and there. Thanks for spending your time and effort on such a fantastic show 🙂
