That 33 1/3 special is the only thing of the Monkees I’ve never seen. And I think I’m okay with that! I used to have that Monkeemania book, and that quote you read about it was what made me reluctant to see it in the first place.
And Jack Benny! I love that era of the show, that late ’30s, early ’40s period of time when they were really just starting to hit their stride. Early 1940 in particular was great too: the Yosemite four-parter is fantastic, and somewhere around there Gracie Allen came on with her “campaign” for President and Orson Welles guest-hosted. Great stuff.
