Released September 2010 on The Overnightscape Underground (onsug.com), an AWESOME Internet talk radio channel focusing on a freeform monologue style, with diverse and fascinating hosts. Listen… you will be happy you did!
Dammit, I was so sure it was one of the Jacksons. One hell of a story though!

Funny you should mention that. I have interactions with both LaToya and Jermaine in the past. LaToya was in my Sunset and Cahuenga studio doing video press tours twice, and Jermaine’s kid used to play football with my oldest. I see Jermaine every now and then driving their Rolls down Ventura Blvd a couple times a year.
I have another story about a certain celeb who really freaked out in my studio. She was promoting her suddenly successful TV show on Fox and had no patience for sitting still for three hours talking to TV and stations across the US and Canadia .
If this is the kind of thing the listeners want to hear about, I can add a few here and there in the already barren Escapist Radio schedule.
Thanks for the Twitter tweet too Neal. I suppose Ruben and I are alike in that “quality over quantity” kina way.

Excellent episode Escapist. I knew what was coming and was still suprised! Never was a fan of Babs, now I will boycott all her stuff.

Lets face it, for her ‘wonderful’ voice, Barbra never had an iota of emotional context (i.e. even when she sings a sad song, you don’t get the urge to weep as with the greats). Ever see the alleged porny she made? I am more convinced that ever that it is her in that old stag film after hearing tales like this… Great show!

Perhaps she didn’t quite mean it as an accomplishment, but merely connected the experience with the company? (Don’t mind me – I just like to give people the benefit of the doubt.)

You know Brian, I had given her the benefit of the doubt when the event had first happened back in ’94 (I have since researched the exact mo/yr). While she talked to us over the speaker phone her voice demeanor started someone genuinely hurt from the experience, which progressed into someone very angry and somewhat vengeful in the end by the time the call ended. Like I said in the show, I didn’t think twice about her until years later when “J”, totally unaware of what happened years earlier, provided me the details of recall of the event. No I had to go back to “J” many times in the recent months to get definitive details of what was said when he met her. He was very clear in remembering that she was proud of having the employees of that company fired. To me, that sounds like someone with a selfish and over-inflated ego.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tale! It was also very surprising hearing the outcome…but hey, I can never say I was remotely a fan of hers anyway. I hope to hear more stories like this in your future shows!
P.S.—I heard Frank rave about this episode during his show & that’s why I listened! Great suggestion Frank….

Thanks for the comments Smidge.
If you liked the twist at the end, wait until you hear the end of Escapist Radio #3… that’s the episode Frank was referring to.
