My music has shown up twice on TV in places where it had no business… I just shrugged it off, laughed, etc.

It does certainly happen and more and more lately. Because, as we know, the “Entertainment Beast” is a hungry one with a bottomless appetite and really dosen’t care where it gets the food, or from whom.

I also know this guy (a prominent local songwriter) that I discovered was stealing music (the actual recordings, no less) from the internet and calling it his own. I never confronted him…
The strange thing is – this guy is crazy crazy crazy talented as a songwriter. Shrug.

Hmm…
The music industry sounds a lot like the design/advertising industry… which is a lot like the film industry.
I wish I had learned to drive a forklift.
*sigh*

It would be really interesting to hear how you work, Jeff. Also Frank Edward Nora. Would love to hear how you come up with ideas for the art/product.

There’s definitely a method to the madness, Jimbo. I developed a creative process years ago whereby the goal is to remove as much subjectivity as possible from a totally subjective endeavor; in the “real” world 2+2=4, but in my world 2+2=zebra… or bicycle… or yellow… or Utah which means I have to show a (typically) non-creative client WHY 2+2=zebra which I can only do if I myself know why.
I don’t believe in accidents when it comes to creativity – 😉
