STAND BY FOR THIS IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Coming soon: a new phase, new format, new era for The Shambleshow, starting with episode #103. The ongoing series hosted by Shambles Constant will be released on a frequent, semidaily basis, in episodes of roughly 30 minutes in length. Exact starting date has not yet been determined, but if all goes well it will be before the end of July. As of today (7/14/13) two shows have been recorded, and Shambles (that’s me!) has been quite pleased with the results.

Meanwhile, the recordings from this year’s vacation to Minocqua, Wisconsin will see release eventually, but will no longer be packaged as Shambleshows. They will now be released as episodes of Falling Cow in the Field.

The Tapestry series will return at some future date, but for now it’s on hold.

Falling Cow Productions is excited to continue its association with the Overnightscape Underground. Now dance, merry listeners!

1:01:39 – A compilation of some of my favorite clips from my favorite old-time radio program, Lum and Abner. First of four audio releases. I’m hoping these clips will give you a good idea who the varied characters are. Keep in mind that most of these characters were played by either Chester Lauck (Lum Edwards, Grandpappy Spears, Cedric Weehunt) or Norris Goff (Abner Peabody, Dick Huddleston, Squire Skimp, Mousey Gray, Ulysses S. Quincy, Doc Miller). These clips are taken from various storylines from the run of the series, but hopefully I’ve included enough that they can be easily followed outside of context of the episodes. The “two old fellows” manage the Jotem Down Store for most of the series, with the occasional side venture into some other business, including a movie theater, a circus, a bank, and a radio station, among many others. This collection just barely scratches the surface of this top-notch old-time radio program, which aired from 1933 to 1954. Oh, what a beauty day!

40:10 – This episode was recorded using my iPhone. Unfortunately, despite much effort, I was unable to retrieve the recorded file from the iPhone onto my computer, so I was forced to play it on the iPhone while setting my digital voice recorder up to the speaker in order to preserve the recording in some form. There must have been a better way, but after trying everything I can think of and failing even after consulting the online Audacity manual (as well as various Apple FAQs, etc.) I just gave up in favor of the tried-and-true voice recorder. I’ll figure it out someday when I have a bit more patience.
