1:37:10 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I’ll present the audio of a cassette tape or historic material from my personal archives.
37 years ago today, on Monday, February 17, 1986, “Mad” Mike and Frank Nora “Master of the Airwaves” premiered their college comedy radio show “Anything But Monday” on WMNJ, at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. Presented for this occasion are selections from two compilation cassettes which were distributed in very limited quantities at the time – “ABM Radio: Their Finest Hour” (circa 1987) and “ABM Radio: Their Final Hour” (circa 1988).
Mike and Frank were kicked off the air in Spring 1986, and started a magazine based on the show. By Fall 1986 they were back on the air, and the show continued till Mike graduated in Spring 1988. The magazine became a nationally distributed comic book in 1988 and 1989. After that, the project ended, but has been revived from time to time, most notably as a premium podcast in Spring 2007.
