2:00:00 – Take a deep dive into The Overnightscape Underground (Onsug) Archive…
Onsug is a massive collection of audio – currently over 6,200 tracks, totaling over 251 days of audio. But what’s in the archive? What does it sound like?
I chopped each audio track into 5-minutes segments, with the last segment of each being what’s left, and so less than 5 minutes. Once completed, I had over 75,000 of these segments. By playing them in random order, we can deeply explore what’s inside the archive, to get an idea of what it contains.
In this first Onsug Explorer, we hear two hours of segments, with one cross-fading into the next. I really had no idea what to expect, but I really enjoyed listening – and more importantly, it really starts to give a sense of what’s inside the Onsug Archive.
For now, this is an experimental show… but hopefully it will lead to new ways of getting people into Onsug, and new ways of exploring it. Let me know what you think.
