19:27 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I’ll present the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

It was a tape by The Clash – “Cut The Crap” – which I taped over part of to record my dreams, and also talk about my life in general, on 11/17/93, 11/29/93, and 1/20/94. A very cool discovery – I don’t think I had ever listened to it since I recorded it way back then.

Notes: Describing my dreams, at 8:30 AM, on Wednesday, November 17, 1993: down by the reservoir, looking for myself, David Dinkins, train tunnels, cliffs, waterfalls, aquarium, coelacanths, electronic music tape, playing a record, she regained her youth, religious food store, Salt Lake City, green oil, medical stick, insurance card, Bryan, Los Angeles at night. Michael Lenzi was one of the key members of a pivotal Chicago Indie-Rock band from the 90’s called Number One Cup. Hear the story of how a Bowie/punk rock fan from DC followed his music dream to Chicago, and ended up forming a  band which found an audience very far away! Learn how mailing their 1st single to the legendary John Peel in the U.K. in the early 90’s changed everything for the band. From tales of being stranded out West on their 1st U.S. tour, to playing festivals throughout Europe, to such onstage antics as the destruction of their instruments/gear, an encounter with Thom Yorke of Radiohead, to recording in the same famous studio used by Nirvana for their final LP (while former Husker Du drummer Grant Hart wandered in!)… this episode is packed with many fascinating stories of Michael’s music journey with Number One Cup!

1:10:44 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I’ll present the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

I have no idea how this tape came to be part of my collection – maybe I bought it at a flea market or garage sale. It’s unlabeled, and I don’t think I ever listened to it before. It’s a recording of a psychic reading for someone named Lisa. Information on the tape dates it to August 1992. The content of the reading is very generic, mostly about typical new age stuff and relationships. One interesting vision is that Lisa is associated with “seven universes”.
