“The Motor Excursion Ruffiansâ€, starring me (Frank Edward Nora) and Peter Litkey, began as a successor to our previous show, “Train Crap & Bloodâ€. The idea is that we have so much freedom that we never use… you can just get in a car and drive and who knows where you’ll wind up!
Episode 1 of “The Motor Excursion Ruffians†was recorded on February 11, 2001, in western New Jersey and released on my old Internet radio station, Bluffcosm.com. Episode 2 was recorded on April 4-5, 2003 (between The Overnightscape #4 and #5), on a visit down to see our friend Bryan in Virginia. Over 8 hours of material was recorded – but it was never released. I plan on releasing both of these here on Station Unlimited in the near future.
This past Saturday, June 16, 2007, I got together with Pete and we went on a “motor excursion†without thinking of “The Motor Excursion Ruffians†– in fact, I didn’t even know if I was going to record at all. But I started recording some stuff, and later in the day we both realized we were doing a new episode of “The Motor Excursion Ruffiansâ€!

After waking up at 4:30 AM and waiting 5.5 hours for White Stripes tickets, I was about to go to sleep when Peter called me… we decided to get together and go on a trip, featuring a torrential Thunderstorm and hail, roof parking of The Fashion Center mall in Paramus, NJ, coffee from Blimpie, weird spiral staircase, old school architecture, heading north on Route 17, Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley, NY, super heavy pottery, free drinks and CDs, finding the food court, Le Gourmet Chef, Pretzel Time, the cosmic lemonade balance, Pete chooses an item from the Protocol Personal Products Convenience Center in the men’s room, candy review (â€Ora Labs XStreme Sour Drops – Strawberryâ€), Folz, Pringles vending machines, finding the exit, Le Creuset, Lladro, dust collectors, Route 6 – cool road, Bear Mountain State Park, free parking, merry go round closed, tranquil feeling, ice cream vending machine, a walk around Hessian Lake, forbidden rock climbing, vending machine deaths, vehicle, out of breath, living a screensaver, exercise, a methaphor for life, cigar, chipmunk, Canadian geese hissing, the goose fight question, the judgement of the ice cream deception, flags, “It’s a Mistake†by Men At Work, Pallisades Parkway, Fort Lee, Mitsuwa Marketplace (â€The Japanese Mallâ€), Hungary and Hungarian stuff, food court, food samples, Auto Freak, hoji tea coming out of the wall, packets of unknown material, Pete tries some natto, A Bathing Ape, Pocari Sweat, exploring the supermarket, Creap, Re-Ment, miniature cleaning supplies, Frank spends all his money, miso choice, deer joke, soothing music
