gawd, megatop phoenix, while interesting…. i bet there are thousands of copies sitting on shelves that will NEVER be played again. there was something about B A D that has dated very badly… much less that they were never quite the Clash….

yes, one of my favorites. B A D and PWEI, bands that seemed to me, to be creating their own Bucaroo Banzai mentality and following up on the early promise of Sigue Sigue Sputnik, it really felt like the future at the time.

I love every second of Megatop Phoenix, but I’m not at all into any of B.A.D.’s other work. I’ve had a few of their other albums, but they did nothing for me. As Chad said, there is a kind of future groove going on in Megatop Phoenix, a self-contained little world of music that is one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s similar to Ex:El by 808 State in that they both seem to exist in their own space, before their genres were well-defined. Little islands of music, sapphire bullets of pure love into the future.
