  1. Yeah I was a Commodore guy back in the day, started out with a Commodore 64, which also had a cartridge slot, though I only ever remember seeing one game that used it, everyone just swapped pirated cassettes and disks. Then I moved on to the Amiga 500, even got the 512k RAM upgrade for it which cost a small fortune. It rely was one of the best gaming systems at the time, the IBM computers still sucked in terms of graphics and sound, and you had to fiddle around and boot with various different memory managers and stuff to get different games to work. I guess some of the consoles where kinda ok by then, but they where all still using cartridges and there was only so much you could fit on those while you could have games spanning multiple floppy disks on the Amiga (it got a bit out of hand towards the end, games came on like 12+ diskettes and you had to keep swapping them, by that point the IBM computers where getting better and taking over and you had harddrives and CD roms and stuff. You could get that for the higher end Amigas as well, but by then Amiga was in decline so I swapped over and never upgraded to the bigger Amiga models, had a friend that stuck with Amiga a lot longer think he had one of those Amiga 2000 models and kept upgrading it, but eventually they just folded and no one made any new stuff for Amiga anymore. Well someone or other have acquired the rights and are releasing a modern version of Amiga OS for “regular” computers http://www.amigaos.net Don’t rely see the point myself, it was the machine that was special, the OS itself I never rely cared about (hardly ever used it on the 500 anyway, just booted from the various game-diskettes).
