Another classic episode! You aren’t wrong about those old Universal Mummy movies: the first one was just too slow and the rest repetitive and poorly staged. Watched individually, they are just about OK, but I once sat through three of them back-to-back and nearly lost the will to live. The only exception is ‘The Mummy’s Hand’, which gets quite exciting and creepy toward the end. The first Hammer Mummy movie is much better, rather than a straight remake of the Karloff version, it combines elements from all the Universal Mummy movies. The other Hammer Mummy movies suffer from the fact that there aren’t really many variations you can do on the theme, so they feel a bit repetitive despite the studio’s best efforts to bring in new elements.
