the Allan’s Alley Irish character was pulled (Ajax Cassidy) cause people were offended.

Your not seeing Willy Wonka is a huge lapse. I watch far older films than you. And watch far less new stuff. Skip the Johnny Depp version, in case it presents itself, but really… the Gene Wilder one is pretty essential.

The silly thing about Ajax was that Fred Sullivan (Allen’s real Irish name) was from Cambridge, Mass., a city that was loaded with Irish. It’s 11% Irish now; my guess it was 50% back then. Pfft.
I might five Willy Wonka a try, PQ, based on your nudge. But if I find it’s horrible, I will come looking for you and you will give me my hour and a half back. 😮

We don’t agree on all OTR shows but we certainly do agree on The Mel Blanc Show. You might have just put your finger on what was so horrible about it. It’s like the polar opposite of Vic and Sade in terms of quality.

Mel Blanc, while undeniably an historic figure, seems to have been particularly NOT funny, on his own. I guess this happens….
