Our Gang! It’s unfortunate that they’re not more appreciated today. Sure, there were some racial stereotypes used sometimes, but on the other hand, Buckwheat and Farina and Sunshine Sammy Morrison were just part of the gang; they were not mistreated by the other kids on account of their ethnicity, and that’s one of the things I’ve always really liked about the Our Gang films. If you’ve never seen the 1920s ones, the original silent ones, they’re a lot of fun.

Ah a John Wayne fan! Ya know, the original “Stagecoach” (from 1939 – which has got to be the best year ever for movies) is really a great film as well (and yes, it star John Wayne.)
I like the Sergio Leone ‘Spaghetti Westerns’ to some extent and I will say that the very first scene in “Once Upon a Time in the West” is probably the greatest scene in any Western; however, I really don’t think that film is really any good after that – but that first scene – WOW WOW WOW. I do enjoy the Eastwood Italian films but I also think they pale in comparison to the Ford and Anthony Mann (mostly Jimmy Stewart) films. Ford was the greatest Western director bar none. John Wayne got lucky – it was Ford’s vision and Wayne just rode the coattails However the Wayne pictures we mentioned are all great, as was “The Shootist” – I think The Ribber mentioned that one but I might be wrong.
