Schlock Express – Slap and Tickle (2/22/16)

41:01 – The Schlock Express journeys back to seventies Britain to investigate the evolution of the British sex comedy.  From the ‘ripped from the headlines’ of the ‘Sex Clinic’, we join Scotland Yard’s investigation into the nefarious activities of ‘The Sex Thief’ before getting ‘Spaced Out’ in a tale of alien abduction by tinfoil spaceships.  Along the way, we uncover 007’s sex film connections and Bob Saget’s ‘appearance in a sex comedy.

  1. Doc,

Another captivating entry by Doc. Hat’s off to the Doc. If you ever choose to post a picture it would amaze me if you did not look like James May. There is no reason that you should, but that is just the illusion my mind has created. In any case it would be a pleasure to meet you one day.

  2. Great show, Doc! Have you read a book called Showgirls, Teen Wolves, and Astro Zombies by Michael Adams? Adams is a film critic who spent a year watching hundreds of ill-regarded films in an attempt to figure out what is the worst movie ever. It’s a really fun read and an entertaining look at a lot of schlocky films. I think you’d like it. 😀

  3. Thank you for your kind words, gentlemen. I’m afraid that James May has rather more hair than me, (these days I’m rivaling Donald Trump in the elaborate comb over stakes as I try to make the most of my thinning locks), although, like him, I do like model railways, plastic kits and other old toys and games.

Shambles, I haven’t read the Adams book – I’ll have to try and get a copy, it will fit neatly into my plans to embrace an even more eclectic reading list this year than I did last year, (which included some ancient tomes about Yeti-hunting in Tibet and an autobiographical novel about a Dutch tugboat captain in World War Two – it’s amazing what you can find in charity shops).

I can see that if I ever manage to get back to the States for that road trip I sometimes threaten to make, I’ll have to plan a route based around the locations of various ONSUG hosts…
