  1. I believe this is the second of these I have listened to. As you know, I am a big Lum and Abner fan. Also, I believe this era of shows is the best era… so there’s a lot going for me. Plus I really, really enjoy listening to you talk about this stuff!

  2. BTW I am still waiting on my flashlight!

(I think I read or heard somewhere that they finally gave up on the flashlights and had to send a bunch of money back to people, although I could have dreamt this… I am just not sure).

  3. That damned flashlight is the most handy, most interesting, and most illuminating prize yet devised by man. To think that it could be mine by simply nourishing my body with Horlicks malted miracle powder. My youngest was a skinny no-goodnik runt and now after Horlicks fine tasting powder he is a regular Hercules, fatter than a pregnant bitch and quick of mouth delivering quips suitable for the likes of W.C. Fields himself. That alone was reward enough, yet I sit humble and flummoxed with the excess of my angelic rewards, sitting here, waiting on my pocket flashlight, and drinking a refreshing tall glass of Mr. Horlicks malt flavoring. Life is mighty fine when you and your family are on the powder.

  4. Thanks for the props, Jimbo! ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, I was wondering how the flashlight promo ended up. They just kind of stopped mentioning it at a certain point. Sounds like the promo went too well!

  5. Chad, I think if you’d been around back then to help out with Horlicks’ advertising, they’d have had even more trouble getting all those flashlights out! That’s some damn good copy, sir. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Thanks Shamb.

I am eager to try this Horlicks powder.

  7. Horlick’s is somewhat ‘wilder’ than the Carnation Product. I would say it is preferable. I believe that Jonathan Richman agrees.

  8. Having never had Carnation Instant Breakfast Drink, when I was small, I was positive there were little fried eggs in each packet… We never drank Horlick’s either.
