You were talking about annoying podcasters online going on about editing and sound muffling and all that. I saw a comment on a blog from outside the podcast world and the author was saying that podcasting is “finally maturing as a medium” and had taken a long time to get there. I screamed at my screen. I translated it to “podcasting stood up to day people vampires for a long time before they sucked the life out of it.”
In truth, though, the great thing is that the Overnightscape and anyone can keep on creating what its creating. I know finding the audience is hard and these trends in podcasting probably don’t help. I have come to the disappointing conclusion that most people really do just want entertainment with a predictable format, though.
