Tape Land 69 – ABM: Shadow/Phil (1984-1986)

25:35 – Welcome to Tape Land (back after a few months off)! On each episode, I’ll present the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

This tape was used for multiple purposes by me, over the course of perhaps a year or two. First, it was music I taped off vinyl, to listen to. I edited these songs out for copyright reasons (see list below). Also, it was used as a production tape for two features for my college radio show Anything But Monday (with co-host Mad Mike) – The Shadow Traffic and Go Away. It also contains live recordings of us wandering the campus – taped on my stereo boombox, and an aircheck from the show. Some of the audio from the tape has been heard on Onsug before – but some has never been released. The ABM stuff is from late 1985 to early 1986),

Notes: End of song “Turn Me Loose” by Loverboy, end of TV commercial, channel ID?, Mr. Ed theme song, annoying alarm noise, WPST radio aircheck, Herman’s Sweater Barn commercial (partial), start of I Take The Dice by Duran Duran, production work for ABM feature The Shadow Traffic, helicopter noise, The Shadow theme song, Frank’s roommate John says the date (12/10/85?), The Shadow Traffic, John again, Mike and Frank wander the campus (previously released on Bluffcosm as “Umbrella”), production work for ABM feature Go Away, more campus wanderings, ABM aircheck – Go Away premiere, wandering the campus, Eight Ball Deluxe pinball in the game room at The Commons and asking for copies of the radio schedule, interview with Phil (with TV report on the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in the background (meaning this part of the tape is some time after 1/28/86)), wandering the campus some more.

Other songs that were on the tape, which I edited out: Had A Dream by Roger Hodgson, Do They Know It’s Christmas? By Band Aid, Feed The World by Band Aid, Dissidents (The Search For Truth Part 1) by Thomas Dolby, Making Flippy-Floppy by Talking Heads (12”), Slippery People by Talking Heads (12”), Wait by Wang Chung.
