I loved LOST for the great characters, and dug the finale big time, it moved me greatly with these character arcs closing off. to each their own.
Wall is pretty cool, though… david hasselhoff needs work, brother, get to it!

Glad I never watched “Lost”. Sounds horrible.
I’d watch “Wall” though. Especially if it mysteriously synced up perfectly with the soundtrack from “The Wizard of Oz”…

i’ve gotta wonder frank, you spin your own analogies on kubrick films which give no definitive answers on their subject, but lost does the same
and you get extra vicious about it? i understand where you’re coming from, because i wish there were some clear cut answers as well…
but i gotta wonder if you have some subjective leniency towards one subject or another . . .

…suggest tantalizing mysteries which the viewers of the show expected there would be answers for – because the writers and producers said they had a master plan!
In retrospect, we see it for what it was… using ever more complex “mysteries” to entice the audience, with nothing backing them up. Had I known that way back when, I may have decided to stop watching the show.
The movie 2001 is a special case, because I do believe that every single frame of that movie was done with symbolic intent, whether or not it is spelled out for the viewer.
Another filmmaker, David Lynch, makes movies that are mysterious without explanations, but never come across as anything else – you know what you are getting into.
Lost wound up being a kind of bait and switch. Of course, many people predicted this was how it would go, but I had faith… and kept watching.

yeah i agree with that whole colleghumor bit, and i think the writers are definitely full of crap when it comes to revealing mysteries (let’s see if that holds true on that dvd claim.)
i guess I’m alone in finding it interesting that these characters went through some insane stuff, and it didn’t bug me that not everything came to light.
I viewed it more of a fantasy show right after season 3 when the god characters came about (i guess it’s also the writers way to have deus ex machina occur)
lazy writing on their part, probably… to me if it had stayed int he vein of season 1&2 when i thought smokey was nanomachines & dharma, then I would’ve probably demanded more answers.
so to me, it became less about these haunting mysteries and musical cues, and more about these peoples journeys and what happened to them, though i will say by season 6 there was zero character development
except for Jack. very polarizing finale, eh. don’t screw wall up this way. (In the end someone just installed a high tech video screen into main characters wall and played a sequence from “attack of the clones”.)
