  1. I’ve said this before, I’m sure, but House of Frankenstein is such a favorite! Daniel, the hunchback’s dialogue was a staple of my pre-adolescent life : ‘But, Master, you promised me the Gypsy Woman’… etc
    I only recently came to appreciate Carradine as Dracula. Kind of a post-code era anglicisation of the Lugosi spin, perhaps….

Like I say, it’s not a particularly great movie in itself, but I retain an enormous affection for House of Frankenstein as it was the film that made me fall in love with these films – a love affair which endures to this day. Much of the imagery of the film, from Dracula’s disintegration, (Carradine was great in the role in these two movies, cutting a suave and dashing figure in his top hat and cape), to the Wolfman and gypsy girl’s mutual demises and the monster throttling the hunchback – shown in shadows on the castle wall – has been indelibly burned into my memory. Oh, and even as a young lad, I could see that gypsy girly was pretty damn foxy…
