When you say that “back then” you had to be either a fascist or a communist, you are buying into the old European left-right political paradigm, when there are other models that (in my opinion) are much more important, e.g. the authoritarian-libertarian paradigm and the collectivist-individualist paradigm. I actually have a hard time distinguishing between fascism and communism because both systems are collectivist, and so authoritarian as to be totalitarian. Indeed, the current Chinese system is arguably a synthesis of the two.
On a lighter note, Stroh’s sponsored the Cincinnati Reds broadcasts for many years, despite being a Detroit brewery. As a homebrewer, I used to chuckle at their claim that Stroh’s was “fire-brewed”, as if the heat source for boiling their wort would make a difference in the taste of the beer.
By the way, did you get the X-Files “209” photo that I e-mailed you?

Seems like the video thing will keep you busy for a while but if Patchings comes to fruition, I think the Ulysses audiobook currently in the onsug radio meanderer (611) archive might be a good choice. (if he does say so himself)
