The Brian Jude Show #67: Little Shop of Hanukkah (12/16/2011)

43:29 – Recorded December 16, 2011.
My son Jacob’s latest obsession has been “Little Shop of Horrors” – the Off Broadway soundtrack, the movie, different performance clips on YouTube, you name it! So my wife Melanie and I surprised him with an early Hanukkah gift – we took him to the Repertory Company High School for the Theatre Arts, where they did a performance of the show! When the cast heard that we came in from Passiac to see it just because he loves the show, they had the director bring us backstage so they could meet him! Listen along to our adventure – one he’ll treasure for the rest of his life! (Includes a couple vintage TV commercials from the original Broadway show!)
Theme music: “The Chasing Game” by Friday’s Child.
What a lucky kid, sounds like you guys had a fantastic time at the show.

Wow. Just wow. That must have been a fantastic experience for Jacob; he sounds very excited. I have a special fondness for Little Shop, as it was the last musical I appeared in during high school. I was in the ensemble as a bum. (Didn’t get the role of Seymour but I hope someday to play Mushnik now that I’m older.) This episode was a delight to listen to.
Cheers!

Thanks for the great comments!
I neglected to mention that I too was cast in the show… TWICE! First as the plant, second as Mushnik! But sadly I never got to perform, as work & school schedules got in the way. ;^(
Of the few things I regret in life, those are two of them… DON’T LET LIFE PASS YOU BY, FOLKS!
