Chadcast – Experimental Broken DS Audio Adventure (2/21/12)

16:19 – A journey through pieces of our shared audio visual landscape mixed with the narrator’s
description of what happened when he fixed his handheld gaming system.
He looked into the mineral spirits and saw something beautiful.

A narrative supports the anchor sounds of roller coaster hill and helicopter blades,
found audio plays between in this collage.

  2. Ye wouldn’t want to read much into it, no doubt it’s very much a formed art piece, where you can take what you want from it, no doubt, a lot of work gone into that. The mineral spirits repeating reminded me of bodily fluids repeating in Dr. Strangelove.
The desk representing a daily grind and the pieces of things hanging about to represent things in our life. It’s disjointed with squabbles of sounds trying to get their piece of the action, including news pieces and memes representing what ever is popular at the time. It would be nice if some of the stuff was let played out for the intentions of the artists point of view on what the piece should convey, not with a spoon feeder but for all intensive purposes of letting the listener in on the act, or maybe that is the way the “audio artist” (chad) intended it to be as his perspective is in pieces and it’s only in these pieces one can start to piece things together, and I said one wouldn’t want to read too much into it 🙂 I hope it puts everything at peace anyway, that’s just my ten cent piece. Peace out.

  3. exactly what that guy said, can i have my money now? Thanks Eddie, that is a fine read on things.

My DS really did break, and the inside of the mineral spirits was a neat sight. The honest inspiration was I’ve made two audio collage pieces for PQ, and I like the using some sound like a robots voice, or sounds from Close Encounters as a “voice from god” or binding agent for the piece, something to center the chaos around, so this was going to be the same type of thing.

The first idea was that the click clack of going up a roller coaster was going to serve as that sound, but I also had a plan B where I was going to use a helicopter blade whoosh whoosh sound slowed down to form the spine of the piece.

Anyway i decided to use both, and then wondered if a audio collage would benefit from having a narrative traveling through the middle of it, not of the pieces chosen for the chaos but a actual story just chopped up and put right in. So, there we have the 3 central themes that surround neat stuff I picked out from movies and tv i liked.

  4. Bears repeated applications. Use caution, moving parts may become loose.

  5. love the precious bodily fluids stuff from Dr Strangelove. I’ve met people who really believe that. Flouride and communists.
