GunkCast 17: In The Fish (April 2012)

1:12:19 – Welcome GunkCast to The Overnightscape Underground!

Show notes: While you wait for the much anticipated part# 2 of Space Trek, check out the adventures of Byron and a certain legendary New Jersey podcaster as they had a meetup on the streets of Chicago. We don’t want to give alot away about the identity of our surprise guest…but clues may be found in a couple alternate titles Byron had thought of for this episode: “A Gunkcast Special Delivery” or “Byron Meets The Champler” (but the actual title we used in the end came from quite an unexpected source)! You’ll just have to listen for all the answers & much more! Cheers!…

  1. Very thrilled to be doing my debut for Onsug! The events of this episode may also be heard from Manny’s side in Special Delivery #84. Now I have to apologize for my how horrible my voice sounded in this one due to recovering from illness at the time…but I couldn’t pass up the chance to meetup with Manny. It was a great time & great stories were told. If anyone wonders about my title “In The Fish” just listen for our conversation with one of the youngest/most knowledgable beer servers ever–LOL! Thanks again Manny….

  2. The ban on self-service gas stations is a highly combustible issue and makes for some heated debates. New Jersey passed the law making it illegal to pump your own gas in 1949. At the time, legislators felt it was too dangerous to have untrained people (I.e. ‘Jerseyites’) dispensing such a flammable liquid.

  3. It’s weird New Jersey is the only state this happened in. But, as Manny said…you really don’t get your old school “full sevice” these days. No checking the oil, cleaning the windshield…service with a smile??? LOL
