Wilfred Brambell did indeed play Albert Steptoe, the father in ‘Steptoe and Son’ and, in a piece of synchronicity, I was re-watching one of the film spin-offs (‘Steptoe and Son Ride Again’) made in the 1970s, only the other day.

There’s a lot to like about this one. I’d completely forgotten about Mr. Sneeze until looking at your show notes. That extended moment was pure magic. Don’t know which was better: Mr. Sneeze’s sneezing, or Frank’s reaction.
Thinking back, this was probably the funniest moment for me as I had to cover my face to hide my laughter on a crowded train home with each escalation of the tension.

The stuff from the pole you got on your hands is likely creosote, which is used to treat wooden poles / railroad ties /etc to keep them from drying out and crumbling, i think.
