Frank in NJ and NYC in the morning. Starting at the bus stop in NJ, then Port Authority, then the E Train to Lexington, Ess-A-Bagel, and down 3rd Ave. I was contacted by an Italian museum, Woodstock ’89, talking to a fellow commuter, Peter’s car and sister, Herb Alpert, puppet museum with Madame and Skeksis, falafel wrap, Save the Eels, Lost, Iasos, spaceship story, Nuon games, bar fight team, hypnosis, Star Trek, Star Wars, synchronistic energy, and a bagel in mind.

Great to hear someone else talk about Nuon, I have one as well, and although I like Minter’s Tempest 3000, it doesn’t hold a candle to his incredible Tempest 2000 on Jaguar. When Nuon was still none only as the mysterious Project X, I had great hopes for the platform. Merlin Racing AKA “Atari Karts” is workable, but nothing that would make one want to play it more than twice. I tried to like many games on this system, but in the end, it was best used as a light synth for music playback. Perhaps the same could be said for the Atari Jaguar CD, which had the VLM, probably the greatest light synth ever made. I used to spend hours on days, hacking the VLM. LLovely LLovely Colours in that thang.

I remember the Project X team at E3 in Atlanta in 1998. It was all so secretive… another one of those super-hyped things that didn’t deliver. I have to say, I had Tempest 2000 for Jaguar and while I kind of liked it at the time, I don’t think it was all that great of a game. Never had Jaguar CD, but I did like the Nuon visual synth mode somewhat…
