Geoff, I wanted to let you know that they still sell beer by the half barrel most everywhere, just like your Granddad did. Its more commonly called a keg. Enjoyed the history, especially the taboo chicken hut part. I do believe that taking ownership of so called offensive words is the best policy. As words are gaseous and light and meaning even more of a vapor, it’s best to crab the bill by the worms so to speak. 🙂

Of course, a keg! I’ve even seen such things! Thanks. And I got some bit of history wrong. Lucky Lager was a brand from Canada that eventually bought out Fisher Beer. It apparently has a cult following in Vancouver Island.
