Tape Land 18 – Fuzzy Dauper at Acme Underground (5/5/01)

46:55 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I will be presenting the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

Fuzzy Daupner live at Acme Underground (9 Great Jones St, NY, NY) on Saturday, May 5, 2001.

Setlist: Monster Now, Christian Rock, Ten Minutes Cat, Dancing With Myself, Sliding Gardens, Possible Calhoun, Pent Breeze, Sign of the Malls, The Us Hounds, The Filmography of Ann B. Davis.

Fuzzy Daupner was an obscure New Jersey rock band which, in the brief span of 3 years (1998-2001), created a catalog of 32 amazing songs.

Fuzzy Daupner began in 1998 when Carrie Engdahl (now Carrie Ann Carroll) began collaborating with her sister Denice and Denice’s husband Frank on creating songs. Awhile later, they joined forces with Rob DiCaterino (who later went on to co-host The Paunch Stevenson Show) on drums and formed the band Fuzzy Daupner. The final member, Phil Mould (from England) on bass, joined a little later.

They produced two home-recorded, Internet-distributed albums, and played many shows around New Jersey and NYC. But they never got signed and they broke up in November 2001.

This show from May 2001, recorded on a Walkman, is being released here for the first time.

Hey Everybody, it’s Jimbo! – 165 PQ Ribber Hates Jimbo

photo (13:42) PQ Ribber recently released an album called WYOMING ESCALATOR 3 under the pseudonym, “Nitroglycerine Pep Club”. Jimbo contributed to some of the songs on that piece of work.

However, during the making of the album, PQ and Jimbo exchanged musical ideas numerous times. Many of these were violently* rejected by Mr. Ribber and a sad Jimbo was left to lick his wounds.

Until now! Jimbo takes most of the songs Mr. Ribber rejected and has turned them into this EP that he calls, “PQ Ribber Hates Jimbo”.

All of the songs here (except the very first two) were originally written by PQ Ribber – Jimbo just added junk on top of what was there.

* it wasn’t so much “violence” as it was PQ was probably altered “burrito-hungry” and just forgot where he put the files.

Hopefully everyone knows this is all in jest! PQ is “ok” 🙂 Seriously, thanks to PQ for his great music!

This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 United States License.

I really don't know the names/titles of these songs. Ask PQ Ribber.
