Into the Time Warp #6 – Federal Reserve (2/8/19)

1:25:31 – The conclusion of our two-part retrospective on Father Charles E. Coughlin, the radio priest who influenced many across America, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, through his weekly broadcasts from the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Michigan. Last time we examined some of his political views and his defense against charges of anti-Semitism. This time the emphasis shifts to his economic views on banking, money creation, and the Federal Reserve, based on two of his broadcasts from April of 1940, just before he was banned from the public airwaves.

DS12: Commercial Break (1/31/19)

58:08 – Doc Sleaze recalls his youth via the medium of TV commercials, providing a commentary on a series of UK television ad breaks from 1967 to 1982.  We chart the development of the TV ad, the changing product mixes advertised on TV and even encounter the odd celebrity endorsement.  Dudley Moore assures us that size isn’t everything while Arthur Fowler from ‘East Enders’ tries to convince us that that Britain’s most reviled car is actually cutting edge.  Talking chimps, Martian robots and many more bizarre spokespeople try to sell us stuff they just wouldn’t advertise on TV any more.
