Tape Land 4 – After the ABM Show (4/16/86)

28:41 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I will be presenting the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

More impossibly obscure audio from the archive… this time from over 30 years ago.

I had a college radio show with Mad Mike called Anything But Monday, which began in February 1986, but by April 1986, we were kicked off the air for our on-air antics. Two of our fellow DJs went on the air later that week and “dedicated” their show to us, making some nasty comments about us. I must have known they were planning on talking about us, because I recorded some of the show. I’m glad I did, because it’s fascinating to listen to…

Tape Land 3 – Video Game Meeting with Pete (4/3/04)

31:52 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I will be presenting the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

Another great find! I played an 8-minute edited version of this on The Overnightscape #55. But the whole thing is well worth listening to (especially Peter playing Shenmue on Dreamcast). I guess back then I wasn’t into the rambling, longform stuff as much.

Tape Land 2 – Talk About 2001 – NYC (February/March 2001)

59:07 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I will be presenting the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

On this tape I’m in NYC in 2001, and I’m recording just a kind of personal journal. At the time, I wasn’t planning on releasing it. But it’s striking how similar it is to The Overnightscape of today… walking around the Port Authority Bus Terminal and 42nd Street… yet it’s such a different world, 2001… two years before The Overnightscape began…
