Seriously, what was up with the Ropers? That would be like doing a spinoff of Big Bang Theory starring Stuart the comic store guy. Or a spinoff of Newhart starring those two old guys in the town who were always making fun of Dick. Or a spinoff of Friends starring Joey. (Oh, wait…)
That whole Perot thing was bizarre. It made for an interesting election year though.

Oh… and you mentioned Joe Bob Briggs in past tense a couple of times, and I had to look him up to make sure he hadn’t passed on!

Depressing spin-offs spoil the original show in such a terrible way. Even thought it wasn’t a spin-off, I had a difficult time watching “Seinfeld” for a while after “The Michael Richards Show”; I guess because the follow-up from “Seinfeld” was so short and they were essentially spinning off the “Kramer” character, just with a different name.
