(22:14) Despite the title, this episode is a LOT more about annoying Rush on the phone than it is about Vic and Sade discussing presents for the boss.

Rush didn’t need to be that loud, since these were local calls, not long distance! I don’t remember using phone numbers with the letters at the end instead of the beginning of the number, but when we cleaned out Mom and Dad’s house after everyone had passed away, I found the receipt where Dad had bought our first television set, and the company’s phone number printed on the receipt was 332-X. Also found a quart-size milk bottle from a local company with phone number 193, and a “Last Supper” folding fan from a local “sweet shop” with phone number 6. (No lie. I’m guessing it was the oldest of the three items. I know, I’m Captain Obvious.)
Jimbo, tell your brother that Paul Rhymer was pushing “war stamps” before we ever entered the war! Maybe it was in hopes lend-lease would help enough that we wouldn’t have to enter it at all, but FDR was just waiting for an excuse, and Pearl Harbor provided it. Some people think he didn’t try very hard to prevent it, as I’m sure you already know.

If there were an internet in 1941, Pearl Harbor might have been as big of conspiracy as 911…
